Randy was born on September 20, 1957 in Denton, Texas. He is the son of country singer Waylon Jennings. He began his music career at seven years old. His first single was "Don't Cry Daddy" in 1970
After working with several different record labels, he found himself on Warner Brothers Records in 1978. His self-titled debut album (Randy Travis) was released that year and went on to be certified platinum. It also yielded two singles that charted: "Swingin'" and "I Don't Want to Talk About It." The latter song became his first No.
1 hit later that year. His 1976 album For the Good Times reached No. 1 on the country charts and has remained there ever since, as well as spawning the No.
1 hits "Storms Never Last, But the Walkin' Does", "Talk to Me", and "Hard Workin' Man". He has since had more than 20 albums released on major labels, including an EP of Christmas songs in 2008 titled I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday (which charted on Billboard's Hot Country charts). His 1997 album Greatest Hits also went Platinum and yielded the No.
1 hits "I Told You So" and "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk".
