Qalandar Nawaz was born in a small town of Sibi, a small town on the north- western outskirts of Karachi. After finishing his primary education from the Government High School, he pursued his higher studies from Government College University, Lahore and then from Punjab University of Agriculture, Kasur. He later moved to Karachi and worked as a teacher of English at the Government College for Women. As a writer, he has been writing short stories and novels since his childhood. However, it was not until 2000 that he decided to focus on this as a profession by publishing his first work of fiction – a collection of short stories – entitled – The Forgotten – under the pen- name Qalandar Nawaz.
