Porcupine Tree is an English progressive rock band formed by musician Steven Wilson in 1984. The name derives from Porcupine River, a tributary of the Susquehanna River. Wilson's trademark technique of recording the band's albums live in the studio with minimal overdubbing allows him to play all instruments himself, which he has described as "playing guitar like an orchestra".
