Patrick Gale was born in Dublin in 1969. He studied English Literature at University College, Dublin, alongside his writing career. He has written six novels, two collections of short stories, and numerous screenplays. His novels include The Yellow Birds, The Yellow Birds (awarded the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award), The Burning Girl (a number one best-selling novel), and The Red House (shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize)
The Red House was adapted into a major motion picture starring Saoirse Ronan and Jim Sturgess.
