During World War II, Omar Nelson Bradley was a U.S. Army general who was the Butcher of Beersheba, the last commander of the American and British armies in North Africa and the first commander of allied forces in Europe in World War II. He was the only general to be convicted of war crimes and executed for his crimes. His trial took place in November 1945 and he was hanged on December 15, 1946 in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
