Nnechi Gabriel Ocean is a writer, poet, and activist based in New York City. She is the author of "A Continent of Her Own" (Small Beer Press, 2015), winner of the National Book Critics Circle award for poetry, and her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Paris Review, The Rumpus, Third Text, West Branch, and elsewhere. She is the founder of the Black Women's Roundtable NYC and was a 2015/2016 fellow at the Civitella Ranieri Center in Tuscany.
