Nicholas Proffitt was born in Bristol, England. He lived in the East End of London as a child and later attended the University of Warwick where he studied English Literature and History. He worked as a teacher for several years before moving to Canada where he worked as a journalist and freelance writer for several years. In 2000 he moved to Vancouver, where he has been a journalist working for a variety of publications, including the Vancouver Sun, The Georgia Straight, and The Georgia Straight
He currently lives in Vancouver with his wife and two children.
