His first collection of short stories "Muglikar Khobor" was published in 1988 followed by the novel "Noyonotar". In 1990 his first collection of short stories "Dibra" was published followed by "Darborkhobor", a collection of 22 short stories. In 1996 his first poetry collection "Sahab o Amar", poetry collections "Asaner Azer" (2003) and "Munshi Azer" (2004) were released.

Mubbashir has also written children's books like "Togheher Sheher Padhlo Bahar Nahin (2002), "Rohogol (2002),"Dahokhal (2005)",and many others. He was awarded the prestigious Bangla Academy Literary Award for his last poetry collection "Kothai". Mubbashir also received several awards for his novels like Bangla Academy Literary Award (2007), Ekushey Padak (2008), Ekushey Padak-II (2010), Ekushey Padak-III (2012) and Shamsher Jung Bahadur Shahi Award (2013).
