Mike Bartlett was born in Ipswich, Suffolk, and grew up in the seaside town of Sherborne. He studied for a BA at the University of East Anglia before taking a job as an apprentice plumber. Now married with two children, he lives in London. He published his first novel, The Boy With Tape On His Face, in 2007.
