Mickey Rourke is an actor who first became known in the 1980s. He has appeared in twenty-one films, among them the critically acclaimed "The Wrestler" (2008) and "The Expendables 2" (2010). He has also become known for his roles in the Ultraviolet films, "Sex, lies, and videotape" (1989), "Mystic River" (2003), and the 2005 film "Brokeback Mountain". He gained further prominence with roles in "The Pope of Greenwich Village" (1984), "Angel Heart" (1987), and "Cape Fear" (1991). Rourke received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture for his role as Lifeguard #1 in Paul Schrader's erotic thriller "Light Sleeper" (1992). His performance as boxer Jake LaMotta in Martin Scorsese's biographical film, "Raging Bull" (1980) gained him his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
He was also awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for his role in Jim Jarmusch's dark comedy, "Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai" (1999).
