Michael Stein earned his B.S in Mathematics and Economics in the mid-70s and went on to serve as an engineer in the US Air Force. He is currently a National Research Council/National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where he teaches courses on optimization and control. In addition to his academic work, Michael recently became a father for the first time and has been active in co-authoring the book "The One-Minute Manager" with two colleagues from CMU's Tepper School of Business.
