He is the author of five books, including the New York Times bestseller The Perfect Mile: The Story of an Extraordinary Performance by an Ordinary Runner and A Thousand Mornings: My Years Running with the Kenyans. He is a regular contributor to publications including the Observer, the Independent, and the Spectator. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and Honorary Fellow of Downing College at Cambridge University
