Martin Winterkorn is the former CEO of Volkswagen AG. He was a member of the Board of Management for the Volkswagen Group from 2007 to 2015. As a member of the Board, he was responsible for all strategic and operational management issues of the Volkswagen Group. Winterkorn joined the Volkswagen Group in 1966, and has been responsible for various positions within the company. In 1990, he was appointed chairman of Volkswagen AG's executive board. In this position, Winterkorn was responsible for product strategy and quality management at Volkswagen, as well as for corporate planning and financial discipline. In January 2002 he became chairman of the supervisory board for Volkswagen AG, succeeding his predecessor Hans-Joachim Stuck.
From 2000 until his appointment as CEO in 2007, Winterkorn was also Chairman of Porsche AG's supervisory board.
