Martin Fleischmann is a professor in the physics department at the University of Southampton. He was also a co-recipient of the 1995 Nobel Prize in Physics with Peter Grünberg for their discovery of cold nuclear fusion. He was one of the pioneers of cold fusion, achieving a significant level of scientific credibility before the claims were refuted and his research abandoned. He has been called "the father of cold fusion".
