Marlon Brando was born on April 3, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska, and was raised in a devout Catholic household. He returned to Los Angeles at 19 and got a job as a busboy at the Brown Derby restaurant. He worked as an usher at the Universal Studios lot and as a delivery boy at Buntpiper Delicatessen on Hollywood Boulevard. He then took a job as a general handyman for the studios.
In 1942, he went back to New York City to see his sister who had just been married. There he met her new husband's sister, Jocelyn Brando, who became his first wife. He returned to California for good five years later and met Movita Castellanos, whom he would marry on March 26, 1951.
In 1954, he had a son with Movita named Miko Brando Castellanos (who later became an actor). In 1959, Brando opened his first club called "Marlon Brando's" on North Vine Street in Hollywood. The establishment quickly became a gathering place for celebrities such as Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
In 1968, Brando purchased the "Chez Panisse" restaurant from Alice Waters located in Woodinville, Washington. The restaurant is still open today as "Marlon Brando's Chez Panisse." In 1970, Marlon had a son with former actress Anna Kashfi named Christian Brando Castellanos (who also acted as an actor). In 1972, Marlon married Tarita Teri Lee (whom he divorced after seven years) with whom he had two daughters: Anna Maria Brandywine Rushing (born 1976) and Cheyenne Elizabeth Brandywine Rushing (born 1979).
