Mark Waters is a film producer, writer, and director with a background in music and television. He began his career as a television director with a number of feature films including the feature film version of Rent, which he also wrote and produced. In addition to his work as a film director, Waters has been responsible for creating the "MTV Movie Awards" as well as several television series including "The Golden Girls", "Girlfriends", "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper", "Will & Grace", and "Freaks and Geeks".
