Maria Bello was born in New York City, raised in California and educated at the University of California, Berkeley. She is an actress who has developed an impressive list of film credits, including Wild Things, Coyote Ugly, Six Degrees of Separation, The Cooler, Unfaithful and Children of Men. She began her television career in 1994 on the sitcom Wings as Carol, opposite Drew Barrymore. Her first leading role was opposite Dennis Hopper in the film Promised Land
She has also appeared on ER and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Her film/television credits include The Cooler with Adrien Brody and Ridley Scott's American Gangster. Maria's passion for social justice is reflected in her work as a producer on the documentary series "Mapping Murder." In 2006 she produced a special edition of the program titled "Mapping Murder: The Fight for Women's Rights."
