Marguerite was born in Port Arthur, Texas. She received her B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A. from The University of Texas, Austin where she was also on the Dean's List
She has taught business at Strayer University (now Strayer University) in Washington, D.C., where she was the first female director of the MBA Program, and at The University of Texas at Austin where she is currently an adjunct professor. She resides in Austin with her husband, architect Michael Gardiner, and their two sons, one dog (and three cats).
