Mahyar Mottahed was born in Tehran, Iran in 1960. Her love of reading began at a very early age. She has always been an avid reader since childhood. She completed her undergraduate degree in literature from the University of Tehran in 1981
She also completed her Masters in English Literature from the same university in 1982. After completing her Masters, Mahyar decided to pursue her passion for writing. Mahyar began writing short stories and started submitting to literary magazines.
