She was able to get a college education through the help of her family and friends, and went on to become an internationally recognized author. Her first book, "The Irony of Being Crippled," is an inspiring account of what it is like to live with a disability. Her second book, "The Red Dress," is about what it is like to be a teenager who has lost the ability to walk.
The third book in the series is titled "The Wedding Dress."
