Sir Thomas Babington Macaulay, 1st Baronet, KCSI, PC (26 May 1800 – 5 January 1859) was a British historian and Whig politician. He wrote extensively as an essayist and reviewer, hisviews were often those of a conservative during the Romantic Age of politics, his most notable contributions to political economyand taxation theory were his advocacy of a graduated income tax.
