Louis Nowra is an internationally renowned playwright. He has written more than fifty plays and screenplays, including The Rocks, which was made into a feature film directed by Peter Weir. His most recent work includes the play, The Water Diviner, which won the Australian Critics' Circle Best Play Award and the Sydney Theatre Award for best production of a new Australian play in 2010; and Broken Bay, which won Best New Play in the Sydney Theatre Awards in 2010. Nowra was born in Sydney in 1940 and grew up in Sydney and Melbourne. Educated at the University of Melbourne and the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), Nowra has been a resident of Sydney since 1963 when he moved to write for television and film.
