Her father worked as a banker and her mother was a designer for Vogue magazine. She spent her childhood in Manhattan, but after moving to California at the age of three, she began writing stories at age nine. Goldwyn earned a B.A.
from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where she studied both fine arts and art history, while also working on her first novel, which would later become The House of Silk.
