Lisa Bonet was born in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of actress Leigh Taylor-Young and singer John Bonet. Her father died when she was two years old. She attended schools in England and France before moving to the United States to attend high school in Los Angeles. After graduating from high school, Bonet attended the University of Southern California where she earned a degree in architecture. The following year she earned a bachelor's degree from UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.
Among the roles she earned while attending UCLA were "Heather Anderson" on Beverly Hills, 90210 and "Charlene" on Charmed.
