Lenang Manggala was born in Kuala Tungkal, Kedah on 14 May 1953. He is a Malaysian author and educator. He is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Universiti Sains Malaysia Penang. He received his PhD from the University of New South Wales in Australia in 1996, and was conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the University of New South Wales in 2000
He has written over 40 books on economics and business management and has published more than 800 articles in local and international journals. Lencong Manggala’s book "Pengetahuan Jati Diri dan Patriotisme" is a synthesis of his research, experience, and training as an economist, a psychologist, a teacher, a writer, and a student of history. This book is a source of great inspiration to all Malaysians who wish to develop their personal development towards becoming 'Patriots'. To pengetahuan jati means to know one's self.
