Lefty Gomez is a former Major League Baseball left-handed pitcher. He was a member of the New York Yankees from 1969 through 1971. A native of Arroyo Grande, California, he began his career in 1966 with the Yankees' Class Triple-A affiliate, the Columbus Jets of the International League. In 1967, he was promoted to the major leagues, and he made his debut on September 20 against the Kansas City Athletics
Gomez pitched a complete game in a 3-2 loss, but did not record a decision. One month later, on October 11 against the Boston Red Sox, Gomez gave up three home runs for a record sixth time in his career. The Reds beat him 8–1 that night.
