Kya Aliana is an author, speaker, and life coach. She started her career as a journalist after taking Journalism 101 at Howard University, where she met her future husband, Chuck Hill. Together they have written four children's books for children of all ages. Her first book was The Two-Bit Tales of the Two-Bit Kid, which was published in 1993 by Simon & Schuster
Since then, she has published two more children's books: Little Black Tails and The Spider Game. Kya's third book, The Sin Eater's Daughter, was published in 2004 (and later became the basis for the HBO film Sin Eater). For her fourth book, Kya co-authored It's Not Supposed to Be That Way with Chuck Hill.
The book is about two teenagers who fall in love but are forced to hide their relationship because of social class differences.
