K.S. Ramakrishna Rao (born on 27 December 1917; died on 13 January 1996) was an Indian chemist and one of the pioneers of the modern organic chemistry in India. He was born in Chennai and attended the Madras Christian College. He obtained his Master's degree from Presidency College (University of Madras)
He received his PhD from University of Liverpool, UK, in 1958 for his work on asymmetric synthesis. He worked under the guidance of William D. Henry at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad and George A.
