Keira Knightley was born on 9 August 1985 in London, England, to parents of Irish descent. Her mother, Siân Michael, is an actress and singer, and her father, Will Knightley, is a journalist. After graduating from St. Paul's School in London with A grades, she attended Bedales School. She then spent a gap year working at the London Zoo.
Keira began her career as an actress at the age of 13.
Her first film was Pride & Prejudice (2005), which became one of the most successful films of that year. She won the British Academy Television Award for Outstanding Newcomer for her role in Wuthering Heights (2005). In 2006, she appeared in Atonement and became romantically involved with Daniel Craig.
In 2007, Keira left school to pursue a full-time acting career. In 2008 she appeared in another much-heralded film called Cranes Are Flying and appeared in a television adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma alongside Gwyneth Paltrow. Then in 2009 she starred in My Brother the Devil and made a cameo appearance in The Other Boleyn Girl which was based on Philippa Gregory's novel "The Other Boleyn Girl".
In 2010, Keira played Elizabeth Swann in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and appeared alongside Tom Hanks and Johnny Depp in Larry Crowne.
In 2011 she appeared alongside Ewan McGregor in Never Let Me Go and starred opposite Hugh Jackman in Les Miserables . In 2012 she starred opposite Jude Law in Anonymous and played a supporting role alongside Kevin Costner and Shia LaBeouf in The Company You Keep . In 2013 she starred opposite Mark Rylance and Jim Broadbent in The Fifth Estate .
In 2014, Keira starred opposite Sacha Baron Cohen in Grimsby , costarred alongside Nicholas Hoult and Olivia Wilde in The Grand Budapest Hotel , and starred alongside Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill in Gone Girl .
In 2015 she starred opposite Matthew McConaughey and Shahid Kapoor in Dallas Buyers Club , costarred alongside Tom Hardy and Tom Hiddleston in The Legend of Tarzan , costarred with Tom Hardy and
