Karlene Faith began her writing career at the age of sixteen by writing poetry. Being naturally crafty, she also learned to sew and became a seamstress. This craft taught her how to create beautiful patterns and fitted clothing. When she discovered she had a gift for writing, she began creating stories for children
Her first book, Magic Girl (1988), was written when she was forty-two years old. Karlene wrote several other books in the series, including The Magical Book of Princesses (1992), The Magical Book of Fairies (1994), The Magical Book of Dragons (1996), and The Magical Book of Fairies (1998). After selling her last book to Simon & Schuster, Karlene published her memoirs about growing up in Saratoga Springs, New York.
