Rove served as Chief of Staff for President George W. Bush from January 2001 to January 2007. He later followed Bush to the White House where he was Deputy Chief of Staff from January 20, 2005 to June 30, 2007.
A Rhodes Scholar, Rove earned his B.A. from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1971. After college, Rove worked for Lanny Davis and Joseph Califano at the Public Relations firm of Davis/Califano Associates Inc., an international public relations firm based in New York City.
Prior to joining Bush's first Presidential campaign in 1999 as Deputy Campaign Manager, he worked as a media consultant for corporate clients including AT&T, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Citibank, Diageo North America, Fidelity Investments, Levi Strauss & Co., Motorola Inc., Mobil Oil Corporation and Time Warner Inc., among others. He was also a partner at Mercury Public Affairs LLC with former Congressman Vin Weber until his retirement from politics on June 30th 2007 after serving as Karl Rove's Chief of Staff for six years.
