Jyrki Vainonen has been researching and writing about the history of neuroscience since 1995. He received his Ph.D. in neuroscience at the University of Helsinki, Finland, in 2000. His research focuses on the early history of physiological psychology and brain research in 19th century Europe
Jyrki is also interested in the relationship between brain research and society, history of science, history of medicine, history of technology, history of political thought, and history of philosophy. He is an honorary member of the Finnish Society for Neuroscience (SSFP) and is involved with many international societies including European Neuroscience Society (FENS), Society for Neuroscience (USA), Histological Society (UK) and History of Science Society (USA).
