June Matthews was born in the San Francisco Bay area, and raised in the East Bay. June has published short stories, poetry, anthologies, and two novels. Her first novel, The Still Point of the Turning World (Black Lawrence Press), was an Amazon Best Book of the Month, won the Black Caucus of the American Library Association's 2016 Nellie McKay Award for Literary Excellence, was optioned for film by New York's 2nd Street Productions, and was named one of 2015's best books by author Doris Kearns Goodwin. She is currently working on her third novel.
