She is an award-winning journalist who has written for The New York Times, USA Today, Women's Wear Daily, Essence, and many other publications. Julie also writes for television and film, including the hit series "Girlfriends" and "The L Word." She was born in Jamaica Queens in 1980. Her parents are Reverend Ralph Murphy and Theresa Samuels.
