Joshua David Swift was born in Dublin, Ireland to a family of musicians. He moved to the United States at the age of three. Joshua graduated from Yale University in 2008 with a major in History and minors in African American Studies and History of Art. He was also invited to speak at the US State Department's 2009 International Youth Day Program in Washington DC. His writing has appeared in "New York Times", "The Washington Post", "Wall Street Journal", "Cleveland Plain Dealer", "Chicago Tribune", "The Huffington Post", and other publications. He is currently at work on his first book, titled, "Black People Don't Wear White Dresses: A Brief History of Race Relations."
