At the age of 23, Jon signed his first record deal with Warner Bros. Records where he released four records (most of which didn't make the charts) through the late '90s and early 2000s before leaving the industry due to creative differences with his label. In 2008, Jon founded Switchfoot – an independent label – and went on to earn 1st place in the Alternative Press Reader's Poll for Best New Artist and 2nd place in the Kerrang! Awards for Best International Newcomer.
