John Seddon's life has been devoted to the study and writing of the psychology and sociology of education. He is a former teacher, deputy board chairman and school superintendent in New Jersey and Delaware. Seddon received his Ph.D. from Rutgers University in 1967 and taught at Temple University for many years before becoming professor of social work at the University of Delaware
He was one of the founders of the field of school counseling and is widely recognized as an outstanding leader in that field. He has written several books on counseling, including Counseling: Practice and Theory, Counseling: A Theory-Based Approach, and Counseling: Theoretical Foundations and Contemporary Usefulness.
