John P. Wilson (May 9, 1929 – November 1, 2018) was an American writer known for his work on the pulp science fiction magazine cover art. He was one of the cover artists for the first two issues of Amazing Stories, where he created the famous painting of "Gray Lensman". He also illustrated several books, including the Hugo Award-winning novel The Dragon Waiting by Anne McCaffrey.
