John Keegan was born in Birmingham, England, where he studied history at King Edward's School and Oxford University. He joined The Times as a war correspondent in 1945 and covered the Korean War and the Suez Crisis. He covered the Nuremberg Trials and was awarded a Pulitzer prize for his coverage of the D-Day landings. Keegan is also the author of many books including The Mask of Command, The Face of Battle, A History of Warfare, and The Second World War: A Military History.
