Joan Wehlen Morrison was born in 1918 in New York City. She graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University, and began her writing career as a journalist. In the early 1950s, she launched a highly successful career as a screenwriter and producer. Her screen credits include The Private Lives of Adam and Eve, The Sun Also Rises, and The Sound of Music
