Jenny Lloyd was born in South Africa in 1969. She grew up in Johannesburg, where she was raised by her maternal grandparents. Jenny worked as a journalist before moving to London in 1996 to write full-time. She has had numerous short stories published in magazines across the world, including the UK's The Witness newspaper, Ireland's Anvil, Australia's The Monthly, and Africa's Monde Diplomatique
Her first novel, The Mapmaker's Daughter, was published in 2005. She wrote her second book, The Murder of Bayard Rustin, while living in Sydney and is working on her third.
