Jean Kenyon MacKenzie is an American author of romance novels. She was born in Washington D.C., and moved to Virginia when she was five years old, where she lived until she was twelve when they moved to San Francisco for her father's job. Jean grew up in the Hills of San Mateo, California, where she attended Mission High School. She married at the age of twenty-four and had her first child when she was twenty-six
Her husband went to Vietnam, and he died in a helicopter crash in 1969. After her husband's death, Jean continued to write novels under pen names, but for years could not find an agent who would accept them. With the assistance of her son's best friend, by the name of David Michaels, Jean finally found an agent who agreed to represent her as a writer.
Later on, Jean wrote four famous series: "Laura's Mountain" (1974), "Savannah" (1976), "Chase" (1980) and "The Daughters of the Plains" (1988).
