James Norman Hall was born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 26, 1851. He was educated at South Carolina College and Georgetown University. He began his career as a lawyer but soon turned to writing full-time. Some of his most popular works included: The Story of Doctor Dolittle, The Prisoner of Zenda and The Spider's Web.
