Hubert Van Zeller is an American biographer, born in 1916 in Brooklyn, New York. He received his B.A. from Brooklyn College and PhD from Columbia University. He taught English at the University of Hawaii, the University of Chicago, and the University of Texas, where he founded the Longhorn Writers Conference in 1971. He retired to Austin, Texas
His biography of Fyodor Dostoevsky was published in 1985; his biography of Nikolai Gogol was published in 1992; his biography of Thomas Mann was published in 1994; and his biography of Martin Heidegger was published in 1996.
