Howard Carter was a British archaeologist who, with the help of Lord Carnarvon, discovered the tomb of Egypt's King Tutankhamun in 1922. He served as head archaeologist for the Egypt Exploration Society and became renowned for his work at the site and his ability to communicate the treasures of ancient Egypt to a wide public. His collection of artifacts, including the famous golden death mask, were bequeathed to the British Museum in 1936.
