Himanshu Bisht is an Indian author of English literature. He has won four Sahitya Akademi Awards (India's National Academy of Letters), the Ramnath Goenka Award (in English), and the Padma Shri Award (in 1995). Bisht has written more than 30 books in English, including multiple collections of poetry. His works have been translated into eighteen languages
Himanshu Bisht was educated in Delhi and Oxford. He worked as a teacher in New York City and became a full-time writer in 1999. In 2004 he moved back to India to teach at Delhi University and later at the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi.
