Harvey Mason was born in the state of Georgia, one of six children. When he was 4 years old his family moved to Cleveland, Ohio. He attended the City College of San Francisco and received his B.S. He later attended Ohio State University where he earned his M.A
in English Education. He served as an English Teacher for seven years before entering the field of publishing at 20th Century Fox, where he remained for three years as a publicist and assistant to the Director of Publicity.
