Gordon Parks is a legendary American photographer, filmmaker, and civil rights leader. His award-winning work in film and photography has been performed nationally and internationally in venues such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Library of Congress, and the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. In 1951, Parks was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for his photographic work. He received many awards in photography including a MacArthur Fellowship in 1981.
