George Shultz is a former United States Secretary of State. He served as the 31st Secretary of State under President Ronald Reagan from 1982 to 1989. Prior to his appointment to the Cabinet, he was a professor at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business Administration. He was a member of the Stanford Board of Trustees from 1972 to 1995 and a member of the Hoover Institution Board of Trustees from 1983 to 1994

In 2011, Shultz was inducted into the San Francisco Business Hall of Fame.
In 2015, he was honored by Latin American Business Leaders for his leadership in expanding business relations between the U.S. and Latin America. On May 17, 2016, President Barack Obama awarded Shultz with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the U.S.
Shultz is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School, where he received his law degree in 1952.
