George Matthew Allen is an American author and former United States army officer, who writes historical fiction. He is best known for the novel "The Silver Tarn", an adventure story about the Spanish Armada. His first novel, "The Silken Spear" (2004), was nominated for the Nebula Award for Best Novel. He has also written several other books, including "The Salamanca Campaign", "Defending The Alamo", and "The Texas Rangers"
